REFLECTIONS: OBSERVATIONS OF THE EVERYDAY

27 April – 12 May 2023

QArt Gallery Kew

In a new show traversing paintings, multimedia projections and sculpture, QArt Studio’s talented, professional artists with disability will tell the stories of their daily life with unique, autobiographical perspectives.

In the artworks, the artists will explore found and curated objects tied to memory, lived experience and identity, gently drawing attention to their access needs by referencing their accommodation and studio space. Forming culture and community in a collaborative, supported work environment guided by mentors, and finding comfort and freedom in making art.

As the artists narrate their first-person human experience, they shift the paradigm of living with disability away from a focus on deficit or lack, and toward creativity, innovation, problem solving and celebrating difference.

The artists of QArt Studio will present new worlds through the lens of creatives with disability.
